Visualization and Meditation

Natural Breathing Exercises

These breathing exercises can be learned quickly.   It requires a daily practice to realize the full benefits for relaxation and health. Breathing exercises are important for meditation and gaining your health, and healing. Breath is used as a healing technique for stress conditions as anxiety, panic attacks, depression and stress symptoms such as headaches, and some chronic health conditions.  It is beneficial to use these breathing techniques during meditation, visualization, guided imagery and any time you feel “stressed”.

Breathing

  1. Sit, stand or lie comfortably with your back in a good posture for maximum effect
  2. Allow your thoughts of stress to leave by paying attention to them, and then letting them go.
  3. Consciously relax your arms and shoulders. Place one hand on your abdomen.
  4. Slowly exhale through your nose, expelling all the air you can without strain.
  5. Take a deep breath, filling first your abdomen, then your chest. Feel your abdomen inflate like a soft balloon, so that your abdomen is slightly extended.
  6. Exhale slowly through your nose again.
  7. Repeat this, being aware of each breath until your breathing feels steady and natural.

Notice how relaxed you have become. You are ready to proceed to meditation

Meditation

Meditation is a personal and spiritual experience. The goal of each meditation is to channel our awareness into a more positive direction by transforming one's state of mind. To meditate is to turn inwards, to concentrate on the inner self. One needs to be without interruptions.   It takes time to achieve this state, so be persistent with the daily practice.

The individual preparing to meditate usually starts off by harnessing his awareness, such as focusing his/her mind onto a certain object. Once attention gets engaged, concentration turns into meditation.

And through continuous meditation, the meditator merges with the object of concentration, which might either be the present moment or the Divine State of being.

Meditation is a great healing tool for physical and spiritual wellness.

Visualization

Visualization is the art of using mental imagery to produce positive changes in your life. It is being successfully used in the fields of health, education, business, athletics, and the creative arts.  Visualization exercises, and techniques can become part of your everyday routine to increase your personal mastery of life.
